Irene T. Winn “Ms. Irene”
Irene Thibodeaux Winn, 81, of Lake Charles peacefully passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on June 23, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 7, 1934 to Mayo and Iris Thibodeaux in a small house under a big oak tree near Church Point, Louisiana. She was the only child to this loving union.
Irene worked as a manager in the grocery store industry for over 50 years. She was devoted to building a life together with her husband John centered around family and close friends. She found her greatest joy in life in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Lake City Baptist Church where she used her talents as an organist during her membership. She, also, used her God given gift of music in her heart and hands for almost 70 years in several churches. She always loved participating and socializing in church events. She spent the last four years of her life in Newton, Texas enjoying family and friends. When she opened her heart to love someone, she loved big with everything she had to give and accepted everyone as they were.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Irene is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John Winn also of Lake Charles, her two children, Craig Winn (Lynette) and Carol Vincent (John) of Lake Charles. Her four grandchildren, Brittany Winn of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Amber Winn Kussmann (Curtis) of Dickinson, Texas, Melissa Vincent LeBlanc (Stephen) of Iowa, Louisiana, and Kellie Vincent of Lake Charles, Louisiana, her loving granddog, Zoe Vincent, and three great-grandchildren, Cade and Aiden Kussmann and Owen LeBlanc. She is also survived by her close cousin, Ira Belle Adrian and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday, June 27, 2016 from 8 a.m. until time service at Lakeside Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at Lakeside Funeral Home. Rev. Ronnie Estes is to officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.
